CSCP Indonesia to launch on November 4 with sustainability communication expert dialogue
“Connecting Science, Policy, Media, and Society for Sustainability Action.”

Jakarta - The Center for Sustainability Communication and Policy (CSCP) Indonesia will be launched on November 4, 2026, alongside the inaugural Sustainability Communication Expert Dialogue, bringing together representatives from academia, government, the forestry sector, and the media.

The event will take place at Rimbawan Room 1, Manggala Wanabakti Building, Jakarta, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB, UTC+7). It will carry the theme “Connecting Science, Policy, Media, and Society for Sustainability Action.”

The launch will introduce CSCP’s ambition to strengthen connections between scientific knowledge, policy development, public communication, and community engagement in addressing sustainability challenges.

“Sustainability communication should help people understand scientific evidence, participate in discussions, and translate commitments into action. Through CSCP, we want to strengthen the connections between those who produce knowledge, develop policies, communicate information, and put solutions into practice,” said Mohammad Cecep Cepi Hikmat, Secretary-General of CSCP Indonesia.

He emphasized that effective communication requires more than disseminating information. It also involves listening to different perspectives, making complex issues understandable, and building public trust through clear and credible messages.

The event’s keynote speakers will be Prof. Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States, and Dr. Bambang Soepijanto, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Forestry.

The expert dialogue will feature Prof. Anter Venus, Rector of UPN Veteran Jakarta; Prof. Supriatna, Director of SPPB at Universitas Indonesia; and Prof. Jamhari Makruf, Rector of the Indonesian International Islamic University.

Other speakers will include Dr. Soewarso, Chairman of the Indonesian Forest Concessionaires Association (APHI); Dr. Agus Justianto, an Advisory Board Member of Indonesia’s FOLU Net Sink 2030; and Haryo Damardono, Editor-in-Chief of Kompas Daily.

Their participation will bring academic, policy, industry, and editorial perspectives to discussions on how communication can support sustainability action.

The dialogue is intended to explore how scientific findings can inform public understanding and policy discussions, how the media can communicate complex environmental issues, and how institutions can engage society more effectively.

“Different sectors bring different knowledge and experience. This dialogue is an opportunity to connect those perspectives and identify how communication can support cooperation and practical action,” he said.

By combining the launch with an expert dialogue, CSCP aims to open a continuing conversation about the role of communication in advancing sustainability in Indonesia. The event is expected to encourage closer cooperation among researchers, policymakers, businesses, media professionals, and communities.
